Meet Patrick
Author. Veteran. Storyteller. Advocate.
Hey there! I’m Patrick —author, Navy veteran, and occasional painter. You’ve landed in my little corner of the internet, where I share stories, experiences, and some hard-earned lessons from life. Stick around if you’re into no-frills insights and a bit of creative exploration along the way.

As an author, I write stories that explore the realities of military life, mental health, and resilience.
My debut novel, The Shattered Shield, is rooted in the camaraderie, sacrifice, and grit of those who serve. It draws heavily from my time in the Navy, where I spent over a decade as an Aviation Electronics Technician. I maintained complex radar systems, mission computers, and communication equipment on E-2C Hawkeyes and C-2A Greyhounds, ensuring every flight that left the deck was a success. The high-stakes nature of this role taught me the value of precision, responsibility, and teamwork—qualities that shape both my storytelling and my life.
Following the success of The Shattered Shield, my second book, Broken Shadows, continues to explore themes of resilience and the hidden battles we fight. It delves deeper into the challenges of mental health, identity, and the intricate connections we form, expanding on my goal to tell authentic stories that resonate with readers.
Writing, like painting, is a therapeutic outlet for me. Since my PTSD diagnosis in 2015, I’ve channeled my journey into these creative forms, finding clarity and peace along the way. When I’m not crafting narratives, I’m often at my easel working on detailed acrylic paintings, some of which have found their way into local shows. You’ll find reflections on writing, mental health, and life here on my site, all laced with a bit of humor and sarcasm—because, let’s be honest, it helps.
During my Navy days, I traveled from the icy shores of Iceland to the bustling markets of Hong Kong. Deployments took me from Iraq’s deserts to Australia’s coasts, shaping my perspective on the world and the human stories that emerge from it. These experiences, both as a sailor and a civilian, continue to influence my writing, bringing authenticity and depth to my characters and their journeys.
Today, I live a quieter life as an introverted tinkerer, constantly busy with projects (thanks, ADHD). My boys and I might be out on a boat one day, or I’ll be under the hood of an old car the next. Life’s a bit of a beautiful mess, and I’m a work in progress, sharing my stories in the hope they resonate with readers navigating their own paths.

Goodnight.
