In this artwork, I have depicted a Navy aircraft carrier cruising through the ocean, a symbolic representation of my years of service. The backdrop is a stunning sunset, with hues of orange and yellow blending seamlessly into the sky, evoking a sense of calm and closure as the day ends. The deep blue of the ocean contrasts beautifully with the vibrant sky, signifying the vast and sometimes turbulent waters I navigated during my time in the Navy.

The aircraft carrier, rendered in a solid gray, represents strength and resilience. The forward motion of the ship through the water, with waves breaking at the bow, conveys a sense of purpose and determination, much like the journey of my life and career. The small silhouettes of aircraft flying above and to the side of the carrier serve as reminders of the ever-present support and camaraderie among fellow service members.

Creating this piece was a therapeutic process, helping me to channel the complex emotions tied to my service and the traumatic experiences I have faced. The act of painting allows me to express feelings that are difficult to put into words, providing a sense of release and healing. This artwork is a reflection of my journey, from the challenging days in the Navy to my ongoing efforts in overcoming PTSD. It is a testament to my resilience and my commitment to finding peace and strength through art.

This was on display at Bradley International Airport in CT in late 2023 with other Veteran created art.
